ALABAMA | ARKANSAS | KENTUCKY | LOUISIANA | MISSISSIPPI | OKLAHOMA | TENNESSEE | TEXAS
We decided to go a little off our original route as the campground we had reserved was closed due to flooding on the Arkansas river. We found another Passport America deal and decided to spend four days at Eureka Springs, AR in the northwest part of the state. It’s a popular tourist town so it has a decent amount of restaurants, boutique shopping, bars, hotels, etc…
Planning a visit to Arkansas? We highly recommend you camp at the stunning Petit Jean State Park. Campground A is right along Lake Bailey and site #18 has great views of the lake. As you walk along the lake you reach a creek with 20 miles of awesome hiking trails, including the hike down to the beautiful Cedar Falls.
So we made it! We left San Diego three months ago with the 50th anniversary of Jazz Fest in New Orleans being our main destination…
We recommend you check out Le Bon Temps Roule, Crescent City Farmers Market, and explore the French Quarter. Watch the container ships float down the Mississippi River, check out St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square, and eat a Po-Boy sandwich.
Driving through Mississippi? Have a few hours? Check out these things in Biloxi: the Visitor Center, Lighthouse, and Beau Rivage Casino.
Natchez, Mississippi - one of the oldest cities in the US. We wanted to check out the old antebellum mansions, some of which are nearly 200 years old!
We stopped in a little town called Bartlesville, OK and setup shop at Riverside RV Resort & Campground for two nights…
Next up, we left Calera, AL around 8am and traveled through Huntsville on the way to Tennessee. I know Huntsville, aka Rocket City, because this is where I was fortunately enough to go to Space Camp one summer when I was middle school age…
While a lot of the cats were sleeping like cats do most of the day, we saw quite a few cats up close and Jasmine, the 18-year-old Bengal Tiger, playing with a water drum. Check out our video to see her in action. It was really cool to see her playing with her toy.
Looking for free things to do in Birmingham, Alabama? If it is Sunday we recommend visiting Vulcan Park, Sloss Furnaces, and Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. We packed our lunch and headed into Birmingham to sightsee and learn about the city’s history.
