Awesome Passport America Deal in Alabama
After a few hours in Biloxi, we left Mississippi and continued on to Alabama. We wanted to keep our expenses down and we found some great opportunities in Alabama. We found an awesome Passport America campground and two great Boondockers Welcome hosts. Visiting Alabama? You are going to want to check out these memberships! Don’t have time to read this now? Pin it for later!
Chickasabogue Park
We headed to Chickasabogue Park. Passport America is another membership we joined as it gives you 50% off some RV parks and campgrounds. With our discount we got full hookups including 50 amp in a great campground for $28.08 for three nights.
WOW! This is the best deal we have found so far! We loved all the trees, the large campsites, the hiking trails and the river. Their monthly rate is just under $250!! This campground is definitely on our list when we head back to the South. UPDATED 9/30/2020: The daily rate for this campground is still $18.72 and it is still listed as a Passport America campground so that means it is still only $9.36/night.
Chickasabogue Park Review
Location: Eight Mile, Alabama
Cost: $9.36/day with Passport America
Site: 36, fire pit and table
Entry/Exit: Tight at entry gate, see comments
Pros: Cheap, shade, long pull through, big site with lots of space between them, day use area has a lake you can swim / bbq
Cons: Gate arm makes entry & exit difficult, no alcohol
Comments: Jeri had to hold the gate arm up as high as possible since it almost came down on us driving through, very tight fit width wise.
Boondockers Welcome
Our next two stops were staying with hosts from Boondockers Welcome. Boondockers Welcome is another membership we belong to that includes free overnight parking on private property. The first place we stayed at was called Duck Pond. This location was fantastic. Lots of trees that provided shade and a direct view of the pond which is alive with bugs, lizards, birds, ducks, geese, etc. We enjoyed setting up our chairs and watching the birds fly around while snatching insects out of the air as well as the ducks and geese cruising around the pond.
Our second stop was this great backyard along a river. The wide open yard meant we didn’t have to unhook our tow car, which is a bonus :) We enjoyed sitting down by the river and taking a few fun photos in their yard. We had great conversations with both our hosts. I love meeting people and instantly having so much to talk about. We have really enjoyed hanging out with our Boondockers Welcome hosts, swapping stories and their Southern hospitality.
