Goodbye San Diego
San Diego, we LOVE you but it’s time to hit the road. The last month has been filled with so much love and support from family, friends, and co-workers. We have REALLY appreciated everything that everyone has done for us!
How was it leaving San Diego? Well, it got off to a really rough start.
We were ready to go and started bringing in the pop-out slides but the rear passenger slide wouldn’t move. The other three slides came in fine. Oh no! After much research and some panicking on my part, Penguin guessed that the slide controller had died.
Luckily with a swap of a few wires, he could power the passenger slide using the driver slide controller and bring in the rear passenger slide. With all the slides in, we were now able to hit the road! We would have to deal with the slide when we got to Dockweiler.
Our first stop is Dockweiler RV Park to visit friends and then on to the Grand Canyon Trailer Village RV Park. Want to see where we are headed? Check out our San Diego to New Orleans Route page for our tentative route.

UPDATED 5/15/2019: Power to the slide controller was the issue, not the slide controller itself. Inside the fuse box one of the wires that powers the controller had come loose. Once that was fixed the slide controller worked. Read more about this issue in our RV Repair Log Year 1 article.
