Tiger Sanctuary in Texas | Worth the Visit

April 21, 2019

When we left Dallas, my parents drove with us to our next destination, and at the halfway point near Tyler, TX we stopped for a couple of hours to visit a Tiger Sanctuary. Wondering if the Tiger Sanctuary in Texas is worth the visit? Yes, it is! Check out our photos and videos to see why you should visit Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary, the big cat sanctuary in Tyler Texas. Don’t have time to read this now?

Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary

The Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary is a preserve for rescued lions, tigers, leopards, and more in natural habitats. Included with admission is a guided tour by one of the “interns” who was very articulate and extremely knowledgeable about the place including the background on each wild cat.

While a lot of the cats were sleeping like cats do most of the day, we saw quite a few cats up close and Jasmine, the 18-year-old Bengal Tiger, playing with a water drum. Check out our video to see her in action. It was really cool to see her playing with her toy.

We also saw other animals like raccoons and tortoises.

Admissions & Tours

  • Adults (ages 13-64): $20
  • Seniors (ages 65+): $18
  • Active Duty Military/First Responder (with ID): $17
  • Children (ages 4-12): $16
  • Children (Under 4): Free

I highly recommend the guided tour which is available seven days a week from May 15th through September 15th. Outside those dates, the guided tour is available Wednesday through Sunday and a self-guided tour is always an option.

They also have two specialty tours, Treat & Training Tour and VIP Tour, that would be fun and interesting. Check out their website here for more information about those tours.
