RV Camping at Wineries in Paso Robles | Harvest Hosts

May 15, 2020

Leaving Benicia, CA, (in March) we made our way back to US 101. The next stop on our California Pacific Coast Highway RV Road Trip was Paso Robles. We were in wine country and excited to use our Harvest Host membership to RV camp at wineries for free! Don’t have time to read this now?

Paso Robles

Your Harvest Hosts membership lets you RV camp at wineries, breweries, farms, and more. Not familiar with Harvest Hosts? Get more information here.

Paso Robles has a great selection of Harvest Hosts and each host was a fun and unique experience. We really enjoyed staying at the wineries and getting to know the hosts.

Our Harvest Host membership allowed us to stay with:

  • Tobin James Cellars
    • This was the easiest Harvest Host to camp with since the RV spots are in an open grassy field across the street.
    • The Tasting Room at Tobin James was also open the latest, till 6 pm, compared to the other tasting rooms in the area so it got busy after 5 pm. It’s nice being able to walk back home after tasting.
    • Our favorite was the 2015 James Gang Reserve Zinfandel.
  • Cellars Stacked Stone Cellars
    • This host was a hoot. We enjoyed his fun personality and his very sweet and friendly cat.
    • We also enjoyed seeing the horse and goats on the property.
    • Our favorites were the 2014 Zin Stone and the 2015 Quarry.
  • Rio Seco Vineyard & Winery
    • This was a beautiful spot next to the vineyards, and we were greeted by a cute little dog.
    • We paired the Grand Slam Baseball Blend with a TriTip dinner and enjoyed the Clubhouse White on a sunny afternoon.
    • Arndt Cellars was also located in the Rio Seco Tasting Room. Our favorite was the 2015 Merlot.

Things to Do

In addition to wine tasting and getting to know our Harvest Hosts we explored downtown Paso Robles and the coast. Our recommendation for things to do includes:

  • Enjoy a craft cocktail at Eleven Twenty Two in Paso Robles.
    • This is a hidden cocktail lounge and speakeasy.
    • The cocktails are pricey but very good.
    • Penguin had the Butter-Pecan Old Fashioned and I had the Chai-Margnac.
  • Drive 40 miles south to Morrow Bay where you can walk on the beach and see Morrow Rock.
  • Drive 40 miles north to Cambria to walk along Moonstone Beach Boardwalk.
    • Afterward, we treated ourselves to homemade ice cream from Caren’s Corner which was delicious.
