Michigan International Speedway - NASCAR!!

When we purchased our motorhome, my Dad asked me one thing, can we go to NASCAR? Well, we did it! Last year, the four of us attended the NASCAR race at Michigan International Speedway (8/2022).

Given how hot and humid it can be in August in Michigan, and how tiring it can be to listen to the generator all day in order to run our ACs (even though we do have a quiet built-in inventor generator), we decided to camp at the Turn 2 Retreat campground since these campsites had electricity and water hookups. Turn 2 Retreat was a blast! In addition to the electricity and water hookups, Turn 2 Retreat allows you to camp the entire week, so we showed up on 8/1/2022 and left on 8/8/2022. One of the other benefits of Turn 2 is you can watch the parade of NASCAR haulers arrive and leave.

One of the downsides of Turn 2 Retreat is we couldn’t see the racetrack from our campsite, not even from our roof. This meant we would have to watch the race from the grandstands. None of us wanted to sit in the direct sun and heat for two races, so we purchased tickets to the Ally Champions Club, and we are glad we did! The Ally Champions Club includes an air-conditioned lounge directly behind your track seats, which gives you a break from the heat. In addition, it includes other benefits like lunch, snacks, and two-drink tickets. Thank goodness we had the AC lounge option because once the rain cleared on Sunday, the heat and humidity were brutal.

We had an absolute blast with my parents, and I am so glad we got these memories with them.
