Loveland, CO - Our base camp for the Rocky Mountains

Riverview RV Park in Loveland Colorado is a great base camp for exploring Rocky Mountain National Park.

Our next stop in Colorado took us to Loveland and the Riverview RV Park. This was our base camp for exploring the Rocky Mountain National Park which was about a 25 mile drive up into the mountains (where it was a lot cooler!).

Traveling during the summer can be tough as campgrounds are very busy and book early but there is also the perk that some of them offer activities. Riverview RV Park was one of those parks. On the night we arrived they had a large bonfire and the following evening they had a live band with two local food vendors. One of the vendors had a mobile wood fired pizza oven and the other had a snack bar ($.50 popcorn!). It was fun to listen to live music and talk to the random people we shared a table with.

At some of the previous campgrounds bugs have been a huge problem. We have been eaten alive a few times while eating outside so we decided it was time to get some bug protection. We decided to buy this Coleman 10’x10’ Screen House. The product description said sets up in less than one minute but I had my doubts. Tents never go up as quickly as described. This Coleman Instant Screen House rocks! It is very easy and quick to setup and take down. For added sun protection I pinned on a large tapestry we got in Amsterdam. We enjoyed multiple meals protected from the bugs and the sun. Tinkerbell was even able to join us and loved it.

We had three great days of hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park. This park is absolutely beautiful. We have so many great photos and these hikes deserve their own articles so those are coming next!

When we were leaving Loveland we decided it was time to get the dash air conditioner fixed in our motorhome. It wasn’t blowing cold air anymore and we knew the days were only going to get hotter. Unfortunately, while they were working on the motorhome the cats couldn’t be in it. Our only option was to hang out with them in the Fiat. I knew they weren’t going to like that! It was a long three hours entertaining the cats, but we survived and now we have a working dash air conditioner. Yay!
