Hot Chicken Nashville Tennessee

As some of you know, Penguin and I enjoy cooking and eating! As we travel around we are always interested in trying something local. Most of the time we cook in the motorhome, but sometimes we go out to try the local specialty. Want to try Nashville Hot Chicken? We recommend the Prince's Hot Chicken food truck onsite at Ole Smoky Distillery. Grab a beer or a moonshine cocktail and head outside to play one of the many games while you wait for your food. Hot Chicken in Nashville

Hot chicken or Nashville hot chicken is a type of fried chicken that is a specialty in Nashville. It is seasoned with cayenne pepper and served atop slices of white bread with pickle chips. That definitely sounded like something both of us would enjoy so our big decision was where?

We searched Yelp and Reddit for “Nashville Hot Chicken” and narrowed it down to Prince's Hot Chicken and Hattie B’s Chicken. Prince’s Hot Chicken was Penguin’s first choice, but after we looked at the map and figured out our plans for the next day, we figured Hattie B’s Chicken would work best due to its location.

Mashville

I was reading Facebook the next morning and saw an ad for Ole Smoky Distillery, and it mentioned an onsite food truck for Prince's Hot Chicken (targeted ads anybody?). The Ole Smoky Distillery was not too far from downtown Nashville so that location would work out great with our plans.

This food truck turned out to be AWESOME! The location was great and the hot chicken was tasty. The food truck was in the giant rear patio of Mashville. Mashville is a shared venue that includes Ole Smoky Distillery (we recommend the $5 moonshine tasting), Yee Haw Brewing Company (we loved the Vanilla Porter), White Duck Taco (salsa trio was delicious) and Prince's Hot Chicken. You can grab a beer or moonshine cocktail and head outside to play one of the many games, like Connect 4, Jenga, ping pong, cornhole, etc while you wait for your food.

Prince's Hot Chicken Review

Medium Chicken Tenders

Penguin opted for medium spice which surprised me. He absolutely loves spice and loves to sweat a little when he eats. I thought he would go with hot but he said he choose wisely by going with medium. Penguin selected the chicken tenders, medium heat with cole slaw. Even with medium heat he was pretty sweaty by the end. At first he didn’t think it was that hot but by the second and third tender the cumulative effect was kicking his butt even with the side of ranch. He loved the cole slaw because it wasn’t too sweet and had a nice black pepper flavor. Although he really wished it would have been a larger portion for $2.

Mild Chicken Wings

I went with the chicken wings, mild heat with a side of pickles. I like some spicy but not a lot like Penguin. I was very happy with the mild heat. It was the perfect amount of spice without being so painful I couldn’t enjoy my chicken wings. The pickle chips really complimented the chicken wings. The slices of white bread soaked up all the excess oil and cayenne and were almost hotter than the chicken.

If you are in Nashville you should definitely give Prince's Hot Chicken a try. Both the chicken wings and chicken tenders were great. You have been warned that even the medium is spicy. Who knows how spicy the hot will be!
