Recommended Apps & Tools

Phone apps and online tools we use to earn cash back, monitor the weather, find places to stay in our RV, and locate dump stations.

Samsung Pay

We use Samsung Pay to earn cash back with GroupOn and Walmart.com, but there are lots of other cash back deals when shopping online including Expedia, Nike, QVC, Sam’s Club and Home Depot. For Walmart, we typically select Pickup so we can get our items same or next day but sometimes we select delivery.

What is Samsung Pay?

Samsung Pay is an app for Samsung devices that allows you to “pay in-person, in-app or online. Plus, earn cash back and get extra rewards for the purchases you make every day.”

We love Samsung Pay because of the cash back. My first Samsung Pay purchase was in March 2019 and to date I have earned $25 in cash back. I know that is not a ton of money but it is free money for making the purchases you were already going to make.

How to use Samsung Pay:

  1. If you have a Samsung device, download Samsung Pay from Google Play

  2. Open Samsung Pay, select Cash Back to see the list of participants

  3. Select a participant such as GroupOn or Walmart and make your purchase through the Samsung Pay app

    • Your must complete your purchase on your phone through the provided cash back link

    • You cannot add items to the cart on your phone, and then complete the purchase later on your computer or another device

  4. Once the merchant’s return period has passed, you will see your cash back under Cash Available

  5. When you reach $5 in cash back awards you redeem it for a gift card to use anywhere Samsung Pay is accepted

    • Select redeem and within 24 hours a Samsung Rewards Card will appears in your cards list

I know this is a few extra steps but hey it is FREE money!

How do we monitor the weather?

We use the Dark Sky App to send us alerts about the weather so we don’t get caught off guard.

  • Cold: Alert if the overnight temperature is going to drop below freezing so we can pull in the water hose and fill up the fresh tank.

  • Wind: Alert if the wind is over 15 mph because that means that the wind gusts could be 20-25 mph and we want to evaluate if we need to bring in the pop-out slides.

What is Campendium?

We use Campendium.com to find boondocking spots, free overnight parking and dump stations.

  • Select “Always show FREE” and this will list free Boondocking and overnight parking options.

  • Select the Dump Category to get a list of dump stations. Users often comment if there is potable water or not.

  • Read our reviews on Campendium.
